St. Patrick's Day

My sister and her family are here for spring break, so naturally we wanted to have a party.
They started out by colouring their loot bags. This was a great opportunity to just catch up and be silly together...
Fruit Loop necklaces- they made rainbow patterns.
Sweet Cait

Rainbow Fruit snack.
We moved on to a game of hot potato- you know since potatoes are Irish and all!
Then it was back to the table for some activities.

What's a party with out a cake?

All in all it was a wonderful time for the kids to hang out together with a few structured activities, lots of memory making, lots of fun and of course lots of sugar. Most of these ideas came from Pinterest. If you have not joined yet, send me an email and I will invite you. Pinterest is great!  = )

Eva's Barbie Party

So my Eva is 6. She is a girly girl and she loves Barbie's. For some time, I resisted the Barbie craze. I was never into them as a girl, so I didn't feel the need to invest in them for Eva. It became clear though, that this obsession with fashion and hair wasn't going anywhere. And really, just because I wasn't into it (Barbie's, fashion, nor hair) doesn't mean that she shouldn't be allowed to. We talked about the anatomically incorrectness of Barbie, and then I caved. I threw her a Barbie party!
Sign for the Door.

Welcome activity- Fruit Loop Necklace! Always a hit. = )

A great dollar store find, of pin the tail on the donkey, except it was stick the jewel on Barbie's necklace.
We had a little round of "Barbie, Barbie, Ken" aka Duck, Duck, Goose.

Each girl made a doll craft. This is Eva, and it got wrecked by an over zealous gluing sister.

Blowing out 6 candle's!

I really had a great time, being with Eva and her friends. We only had 6 girls (aged 6-9) and they were so lovely, all of them: so kind, so polite, and easy going and silly. I was so happy for Eva to know that she has such good quality friends in her life! Hopefully it can stay that way!

Eva's Birthday

We took the day off from school work on Friday to celebrate Eva's 6th Birthday.
It started with a gift from a friend.

Then there was a visit to Science World.

To check out the new Lego exhibit.

Kezia, found this creation, and called her own! ; )

Cool wall mural, made of Lego.

My princesses.

A knight made of Lego.

We were relieved to see that the water tables and balls were back!

Then a surprise visit to a pottery painting place.

It was really fun.

...and surprisingly, not too stressful.

Her special day was topped off with homemade pancakes.

Leap Year Party

I love a good reason to get creative and throw a themed party. So naturally I was all over Leap Year. After all, it only happens every four years- so why not make a celebration out it!?!
It appears from these pictures that Theo was MIA, but really he was just too quick for the camera that day.
First we made a sign, so our friends would feel welcome and quickly get into the spirit!
We made frog cookie creations.
Cut out some shapes to make frogs.

Frog cupcakes.

We played "feed flies to the frog". I put some eyes on a green bowl, and let the kids try to throw raisins in the bowl.

Frog puppet...

With cute poem on the back.

We also played a round of "Frog, Frog, Tadpole" aka Duck, Duck Goose!  Good times, people. These happy memories will have to last us another 4 years. It will be pretty fun, to look back at these photos 4 years from now. By then, the kids will be 11, 10 and 7 YIKES!
